Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is intended to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different one, usually with the idea to scam the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally have it. The record features all of the e-mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message won't be forwarded and it'll be discarded. When you employ this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam that appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our exceptional Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This feature will provide you with the best standard of protection, but it is not applicable in case only your site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain name are managed somewhere else. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with our semi-dedicated hosting services, will provide you with an extremely easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF protection service for any domain name that you host within your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be permitted to send out messages from your emails. If the emails are handled by us and not by some other supplier, you're able to raise the protection level even more and activate an option for all the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option will give you better control and it will eliminate any possibility of anybody counterfeiting your emails with the objective of spamming and scamming people. It is not applicable if only your site is on our modern cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are managed by a different provider. If you are not sure what options to choose, our technical support staff will assist you 24/7.
